The subject of the Group's research are methods of optimization and decision support. They cover the whole spectrum of theoretical research and algorithms for linear, nonlinear and discrete optimization, as well as data extraction methods and knowledge engineering. An important research direction concerns the development of multi-criteria optimization and decision making techniques under uncertainty conditions for the creation of decision support systems. New models and algorithms for selection issues under risk conditions based on multi-criteria models are being studied. Interactive multi-criteria optimization algorithms for decision support are being developed, especially techniques based on the concept of reference point. Multicriteria optimisation methods are used, among others, for resource allocation issues. This applies in particular to the issues of resource allocation in multi-agent systems, where apart from the efficiency of the whole system it is also important to strive for fair distribution. Optimization methods are also used, among others, for analysis and design of structures.
