Control Engineering Group
Group Head: Prof. Maciej Ławryńczuk, Ph.D., D.Sc..
The research work carried out in the Group concerns the issues of industrial control with particular emphasis on algorithms of predictive control, as well as structures and algorithms of multi-layered optimization. It applies and develops both classical methods of designing the above mentioned algorithms, as well as techniques included in the so-called artificial intelligence (another term used is soft computing), namely neural networks, fuzzy systems and genetic algorithms. Theoretical considerations are supported by numerous experiments carried out in institute laboratories equipped with programmable controllers, workstations with specialized software such as Distributed Control System (DCS) and Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA).
