A Brief CV
Cezary Zielinski
received: M.Sc./Eng. degree
in control in 1982, Ph.D. degree in control and robotics in 1988 and D.Sc.
(habilitation) degree also in control and robotics in 1996, all from Warsaw
University of Technology (WUT), Faculty of Electronics and Information
Technology, Warsaw,
Poland.
He is a professor of WUT employed by the Institute
of Control
and Computation Engineering (IAIS). He spent 9 months in all as a visiting
researcher at Mechanical Engineering Department of Loughborough University of
Technology, Loughborough,
United Kingdom,
in 1990 and
1992, working on robot programming methods. In 1994 he was involved in a 1
month project management training at EMPA, Dubendorf,
Switzerland.
Subsequently (1994-1999) he became the managing officer of
PATIA (Program in Control, Information Technology and Automatisation).
In the years 1999-2001 he was employed as a senior fellow at Nanyang Technological University,
Singapore,
where he was involved in robotics research and mechatronics education. He
participates in the East Europe Research Scientists and Student Exchange and
Collaboration Programme organized by the National
University of Singapore (NUS). Within that Programme
he spent altogether 2 months at NUS in 2003 and 2005 delivering seminars and
doing research focused on control structures and methods of programming systems
composed of mobile robots. In the years 2002-2005 he served as the vice-Dean
for Research and International Cooperation at the Faculty of Electronics and
Information Technology of WUT. Currently he is the Deputy Director for Research
at the Institute
of Control
and Computation Engineering. Moreover, in WUT he heads the Robotics Group in
IAIS and the interdepartmental Research Center for Automation and
Information-Decision Technology CATID (a
follow-up of PATIA) working on the design of special purpose
robot manipulators, their controllers and programming methods. He is a Senior
Member of IEEE and an Information Officer in the Polish Section of IEEE. In
2003 he was elected a member of the Forecast Committee of the Polish
Academy
of Sciences: Poland 2000 Plus. His research interests focus on robotics
in general and especially include: robot programming methods (robot programming
languages and robot programming frameworks), multi-robot system controllers,
robot kinematics, utilisation of sensors in robot
control, behavioural and hybrid (behavioural-deliberative)
control of robots, general purpose programming languages, mechatronics,
design of digital circuits. He is the author/coauthor
of over 90 conference and journal papers concerned with the above mentioned
research subjects. Married, has one daughter. Hobby: history and hiking.
