Krzysztof Sacha
Short CV
- Current position. I am a Professor of Computer
Sciences and the head of Software
Engineering Team at Warsaw
University of Technology. I am also a head of the chair of Programming Methods at Vistula
University, Warsaw, Poland, and a member of the Council
of The
National Centre for Research and Development.
- My short story. I was born in Warsaw, Poland,
in 1951. Some time later I received the M. Sc. (1973) and Ph. D (1976)
degrees in electrical engineering and Dr. Habilitus (1996) in Computer
Sciences from Warsaw University of Technology. Then, I became a Professor
of Computer Sciences (2011). Since 1976 I have been with the Institute of Control and Computation Engineering,
currently at a position of University Professor. From time to time,
however, I did something else, e.g. had a short adventure with ERA Minicomputer
R&D Center, a position of Software Engineering Consultant for PNEFAL
Industrial Automation, was a visiting researcher at the University of
Groningen, The Netherlands, had a part time position of Project Manager in
Alerton (building management systems for e.g. TPSA and Atrium Business
Center), was a professor at Olsztyn High School of Software Engineering
and Management, and also served as an Advisor to the President of Social
Insurance Institution. Currently, I serve as an expert in evaluating software
projects for public organizations and for the industry.
- Research activity. My research interests include
software engineering, real-time systems, computer networks and operating
systems. I have written more than 100
journal and conference papers and 21 books. Two of the books were written
in English and can be read by everybody. These are: W. Halang, K. Sacha:
Real-Time Systems, World Scientific, 1992, and Sacha K. (ed.), Software Engineering
Techniques: Design for Quality, Springer, New York 2006. I am a member of
IEEE Computer Society. I have also been a member of the Program Committees
of several national and international conferences: International
Conference on Evaluation of Novel Approaches to Software Engineering ENASE, International Conference on Software and
Data Technologies ICSOFT, Central and Eastern European Software
Engineering Conference in Russia, International Conference on
Dependability of Computer Systems DepCoS, IFAC/IFIP Workshop on Real-Time
Programming, National
Conference on Real Time Systems.
- Responsibilities. I give lectures on Real-Time
Systems and Software Engineering for students of the Faculty of
Electronics and Information Technology at Warsaw University of Technology.
Moreover, I supervise a number of students projects and theses. I am also
involved in planning the future of the Faculty within the Steering
Committee of Computer Sciences Education. In addition, I give lectures on
Programming, Embedded Systems and on Software Engineering for students at Vistula University.
- Hobbies. Years ago I used to train
athletics and dancing. Now I spend my leisure time practicing mountain
hiking and skiing.
